Klidonas Festival in Agios Prokopios
The day before Saint John's nameday Klidonas
is celebrated on Naxos. This is an ancient custom
thus survived to the present day. People
light a fire with the handmade flower circles called
"Maides"and jump over the fire.
Potatoe Festival at the end of July takes place in
Agia Anna. The flavor of the Naxian potatoes soon became
and still is very popular all over Greece. Naxian potatoes
are cooked in various ways from the local houses and are
offered to the visitors . Traditional naxos music and dancers and
the local Naxian wine will accompany you. The Potatoe festival
is organized by the Cultural Organization of Agios Arsenios.

At the end of August in Plaka Beach. Here you may enjoy
various flavours of local wine with greek traditional music and

Celebrated on Agios Arsenios 40 days before Easter (orthodox).
The men of the village are dressed with a special custum called
"kordellades"and visit the surrounding villages and at the end
they gather in front of the square of Agios Arsenios. A
nother custom surving until today is the bear man. Traditional
naxos music and dancers and the local Naxian wine
will accompany you. On this day, tsampouna, a naxian music
instrument made from sheeps leather will accompany
you with a special sound.
